Jerrica Jones (Software Engineering Intern) is kicking off her first post for the Diary of an Intern series!
Hello Everyone,
I can't believe summer is here already, and I am back at Google! Last year was a blast, and I have high hopes for this summer. Although I will not be returning to the New York office, I am looking forward to the adventures the Seattle office and the surrounding area will offer. Unfortunately, none of my friends who experienced the BOLD internship with me last year will be here at the Google Seattle office but I am looking forward to meeting new friends, mentors, and amazing Google engineers.
On my first day in the Seattle office I met the first of these amazing Google engineers. He took me on a tour of the office and helped me build the code I would be working on for the rest of the summer. It was really cool to dive into the project right away, a perk of being a returning intern. :-) Since I went through all of the orientation presentations and process last year, I got to skip all of it this year and just start working. I can't tell you how awesome it felt to be back at Google and already be working on my project on day one! My first day got even better when I got to go to lunch and chat with all of the Google engineers on my team. I can honestly say I've never met such a diverse, bright group of people. In the first week my teammates taught me about Seattle, their cultures, and some random trivia like the percentage of people in Seattle that share the same birthday. Google it! I was really happy with how down to earth my team is and how they included me in everything just like I was just another full-time Googler.
It couldn't have been a better first couple of days. :-)
I will sign off for now, but before I go, I will leave you with a random Google fact: Google allows dog owners to bring their dogs into the office as long as none of the Googlers in proximity to where the dog will be chilling are allergic to dogs. My favorite dog in the Seattle office is Gruffs. He is an airedale terrier and pretty much the most adorable thing I have ever seen.
Catch you next time,
Jerrica

Wow
A quick question, it's possible to students from other countries (Mexico) apply for intern job?

Sounds like fun! Are you allowed to tell us what kind of cool things you get to work on?
Wow that sounds exciting! I am an enthusiastic Software Engineer in the making, I reside in India, how can I apply for an internship at Google?
Yes, I would definitely encourage students from other countries to apply for an internship! You can apply online for internship opportunities on the Google jobs website: www.google.com/jobs. Applications for next year's summer internship should be open online this winter. Good luck! :-)
Also, I am working on Google Chrome but I will have to check how much more I can say then that.
