Announcing Google FUSE 2010
March 24, 2010
We're excited to announce the launch of Google FUSE! For the second summer in a row, FUSE will provide an opportunity for successful and invested 1st year computer science students who are historically underrepresented in the field to connect with one another and with Google. Up to 50 aspiring computer scientists will be invited to an all-expenses paid retreat that will run for three days on July 14-16, 2010 in New York, NY and July 20-22, 2010 in Seattle, WA.
Fuse 2009 attendees in NYC
The Google FUSE program aims to:
Form a network among top young students from underrepresented backgrounds in computer science that will allow them to learn about research, academic, and industry opportunities in the years to come.
Make connections between students and Googlers that will allow students to discover career paths, create meaningful academic experiences, and take advantage of the college years in computer science.
Give students an insight into careers in computer science and show how rewarding, challenging, and fun they can be.
Students must:
Be current full-time first year college students at a four year college in the US or Canada who will be full-time second year students in the 2010–2011 academic year.
Have declared or plan on declaring a major in Computer Science, Math, or a related field.
Demonstrate academic excellence in science and math coursework at the high school and or college level and have taken at least one college level computer science course.
The program is open to all qualified college students, and is committed to addressing diversity in our company and in the technology industry. Students who are a member of a group that is historically under-represented in the technology industry are encouraged to apply, including female, Native American, African American and Hispanic students as well as students with disabilities.
